Ceramic tiles may need to be tested for moisture expansion. We offer a simple test rig to perform this test

To test for moisture expansion requires a measuring frame fitted with a micrometer with an accuracy of 0.001mm. You will also require a calibration bar manufactured from invar.

In addition, to perform the test you will need :-
a laboratory kiln with the capability to work at 600 degrees C
a water bath capable of continuous use for 24 hours. This bath should use insulation balls
a tile cutter for preparing the correct sized sample for the test
